Dog Park Renovation Begins

Pawsitive change is on the horizon. The dog park has been a focal point for Jasper residents, motivating upgrades for its future. Through their diligent efforts, the Dog Park Committee crafted the approved plan. Jasper’s developer and board of directors see the importance of the dog park and are excited to improve the space.

The dog park will close on May 14 as renovation begins. The estimated project timeline is six to eight weeks, and updates will be added to this page and via your inbox.

Meet the Dog Park Committee

Led by committee chair Billy Parker, the Dog Park Committee gives its time to maintain and shape the future of the dog park. As advocates for their furry neighbors, members have played a pivotal role in sharing ideas, concepts and recommendations to organize and innovate this plan.

Why is this important?

The dog park is the second most-used amenity in the Jasper community. With insights from the Dog Park Committee and other residents, the board and Jasper Eco Dev are investing in an area of great impact.

What will improve?

Improvements to the design, grass and gate will elevate the dog park experience. The goal is to create a top-notch, sustainable amenity for long-term use. We envision a place where dogs and their owners will feel welcome to spend quality time together.

How will this affect us?

The project will begin with demolition, followed by installation of turf and then landscaping. Residents, both two- and four-legged, should stay clear of the area until construction is complete. As renovations progress, we will share milestones and updates below. We look forward to seeing the happy tails wag their way into the new park.

Project updates

Complete

During the first two workweeks, we will focus on creating a clean slate for the new landscape installation. This includes removing all existing grass, irrigation, and drainage systems, and thoroughly prepping the site for the upcoming work.

The next two weeks will center around preparing the site for artificial turf installation. This includes:

  • Installing a new irrigation system to support the turf areas and new trees
  • Setting paver borders to outline the turf layout
  • Completing all underground work and hardscape elements
  • Beginning installation of artificial turf and decomposed granite ground cover
  • Building the new seat wall

Completing the artificial turf installation. Afterward, we'll focus on the decorative and functional features, such as:

  • Planting trees
  • Placing boulders and agility tires
  • Testing all irrigation and drainage systems to ensure proper function
  • Performing a detailed quality check of all work completed
