Jasper Gems: Johnnie Griffitts

Johnnie Griffitts is a Vietnam War veteran and a passionate advocate for those who served. Since moving to Jasper a year ago, he founded the Veterans Coffee Club at J Club, creating a space for veterans to support each other. Local veterans are invited to join upcoming gatherings for camaraderie and conversation. The club has garnered positive feedback and is one of many ways Johnnie inspires his neighbors.

Beyond Jasper, Johnnie is beloved in Prescott Valley. He was nominated as a “Hometown Hero” in a program that honors veterans in the area. Through his voice in the community, he helps bring awareness and healing. His dedication to engagement reflects a heart for helping fellow heroes.

Johnnie is also a published author. He co-wrote “The Tale of Two Rivers Trading Post” with a fellow Vietnam War veteran as a therapeutic resource for soldiers with PTSD. The book is described as, “written for all of the people who feel that progress has left them behind.” Readers praise its historical insights and the impactful viewpoints of two veterans. It is available on Amazon.

Johnnie’s efforts highlight veterans’ unique perspectives and the value of sharing struggles and encouragement. He is a shining example of the power of human connections and storytelling. We are proud to honor Johnnie as a Jasper Gem and appreciate his contributions that uplift our community. We can’t wait to see how he continues to reach people through his ventures.
