Tips to keep Jasper’s pets & people safe all year

Jasper is home to many four-legged friends and their families who care for them, so we’ve put together a refresher on the ordinances and etiquette that can help keep your community’s pets and people safe year round.

  • Make sure to keep your dog on a leash (no longer than 6 feet in length) unless you’re inside the fenced area of the dog park. It’s the law, and town of Prescott Valley police officers and animal control officers will issue fines.
  • Help keep Jasper poop-free (our shoes will thank you). If you happen to leave home without a potty pick-up bag, kindly return to clean it up. View this map for Jasper’s dog stations.
  • Avoid confrontations or injuries by immediately removing aggressive or upset dogs from the park. While Jasper’s dog park is a place to bring Fido for a little off-the-leash freedom, not all pups may be ready to play. If an incident does occur, it should be reported ASAP to Yavapai County Animal Care and Control at 928-771-3282.
  • Consistent barking or howling is considered disturbing the peace and is unlawful. While it’s best to first chat with your neighbor about the issue, if that doesn’t do the trick (or the problem gets worse) it could be time to contact the town of Prescott Valley’s Police Department’s Animal Control Division who can enforce noise ordinance violations. The ACD doesn’t accept anonymous complaints, but will do their best to keep your info confidential.
  • Register and license your pet with Yavapai County Animal Care and Control. For added peace of mind, consider microchipping your pets, too.
  • Questions? Contact Prescott Valley Police Department’s Animal Control Division at 928-771-3282. In addition to noise complaints, they’ll also help with aggressive animals, animal bites, animal cruelty, injured animals, and contained animals. Officers are on duty during regular business hours seven days a week, excluding holidays. You can also leave a message on the hotline 24/7 at 928-772-5154.

We hope your pets enjoy being active and integrated members of the community. Let’s pledge to be responsible pet owners and continue to create harmony among the animals and people around us.
